Welcome to the CD Williamson Karate Home Page, one of the most prestigious Martial Arts Schools in Northwest Florida. Here you will find all kinds of information and pictures concerning what we do. Feel free to browse around and then sign our guest book, located under the "Other Links" button at the top or bottom of this page, and tell us what you think about our site.
Kyoshi CD Williamson, 8th Degree Black Belt, is our Master instructor. We study the Traditional Okinawan Art of Shorin-Ryu Shorin-Kan Karate. Karate, meaning empty hand, actually started in Okinawa (a group of islands south of Japan) in the year 1609 when the Satsuma Clan left Mainland Japan and conquered Okinawa (which used to be named the Ryukyu Kingdom). The subsequent edicts that came out afterwards prohibited the Okinawans from owning any type of weapons. Modern Okinawan Shorin-Ryu Shorin-Kan was started by Grand Master Chosen Chibana in 1920, keeping to the traditional instruction he had learned as a teenager. Over the years Shorin-Ryu has changed very little (although there are some minor changes to update the system to modern times). While you are here, go to "Other Links" and sign our guestbook. Tell us what you think of the website. For more information come and see us or call: |
